Speak to Faculty

IBM Student Ambassadors from the University of Wolverhampton

As an IBM Ambassador, you'll be helping to raise the profile of IBM SkillsBuild on your university campus by getting as many students as possible involved! Another simple way is to get in touch with faculty members from outside your department to help you connect with other eager learners who want to know more about things like AI, data science, and cybersecurity.

When you're talking to faculty, it's important to show that you're prepared and confident. That's where Your Big Year comes in. We'll provide you with support and materials, like a sample outreach email.

Of course, the best way to get someone on board is to show them your enthusiasm for being part of the IBM Ambassador Program and explain the benefits of the digital credentials. We encourage you to host as many events as you can and invite students and professors from different departments so they can hear your experience and insights.

SkillsBuild Badges and Skills Use Cases

It's always great to show how useful SkillsBuild badges and skills can be applied in lots of different areas. To do this, it's a good idea to share some real-world examples that will speak to different departments and faculties. When you're chatting with these groups, focus on how these skills can directly impact and enhance their specific workflows, outcomes, and professional development opportunities. Use client stories (look at Use Cases - IBM Watson Discovery) and practical examples to show the tangible benefits and versatility of these skills, emphasizing their adaptability across multiple disciplines. Some examples include the following industries.

  • Insurance: Natural language processing (NLP) and data analysis help experts like underwriters and claims processors quickly find insights from documents and data, improving risk assessments and customer outcomes.

  • Financial Markets: AI and automation enable professionals to efficiently analyze large datasets, generating insights that lead to better investment decisions and enhanced client guidance.

  • Banking: Benefits from data analytics and document automation to accelerate processes like audits and credit applications, enhancing decision-making and customer service.

  • Legal Research: AI and NLP streamline legal research by quickly retrieving relevant information from large volumes of documents, allowing legal professionals to focus on client services and case resolution.

  • Healthcare and Life Sciences: AI and data science speed up research and improve care by uncovering insights from large datasets, making healthcare delivery more efficient and effective.

  • Education and Public Sector: AI for document analysis helps institutions communicate better and streamline processes, improving service delivery to students and citizens.

  • Sports and Entertainment: Data analytics and AI provide real-time, accurate insights, enhancing audience experiences and decision-making for events.

  • Maintenance and Engineering: AI and data analysis assist in making faster, more informed decisions, improving both efficiency and customer satisfaction.
