What is your Project/organization you are working on/with?

In high school, I created OpportuniMe — An education company which helped youth in high school find summer programs

My book, Purpose: How To Live and Lead With Impact, was published this past summer. It’s for anyone and everyone who wants to make a difference in not only their lives, but in the lives of others, their communities, companies and organizations, and the world. It’s full of inspiring stories and actionable insights for readers of all ages.

Currently, I’m the innovation director at my university’s financial literacy center. I love empowering my peers through personal finance and financial technology workshops and resources.

What was your Inspiration?

When I was in high school, I participated in an incredible youth entrepreneurship program called the Diamond Challenge. I credit it for helping me to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and having the opportunity to make friends from all over the world. I was enthralled by the challenging and exciting process of solving problems, creating value, and making a difference through entrepreneurship. I was so inspired by many young entrepreneurs I met, who were working on ventures that made a significant impact on the lives of other people and in society! I wanted to do that too!

What challenges have you faced?

The biggest challenge I had when starting was understanding what direction to go in terms of my business. That was overcome with the help of a mentorship program for young entrepreneurs. I joined, got partnered up with a mentor and from there she helped me gain direction. Before they came to speak at my school, I was hesitant about how to ask/find a mentor but after joining the mentorship program I realized how willing people were to help!

What you have found to be your best resources?

For funding, my best resources were pitch competitions! These competitions didn’t affect my companies equity and gave me a chance to gain feedback about my business and if placed, allowed me to win prize money. Also, mentorship has been a large resource as previously mentioned and I can’t forget about social media too.

What advice do you have for your peers?

You might be the CEO of a business or company but first of all, you are the CEO of your life. Invest in yourself, in your personal and professional growth. There are so many ways to do it, including exercising, reading books and listening to podcasts, going to conferences, etc.

Do you have any other projects you’re working on?

I love and have had the opportunity to speak to diverse audiences at various conferences and events nationally and internationally. I speak about entrepreneurship and innovation, diversity and inclusion, financial literacy, and education. One of my favorites this year was the She Geeks Out Summit where I spoke about overcoming imposter syndrome and knowing your worth.

Also, I recently did a project about gender equality with Melinda Gates and the Harvard Business Review. Here’s the link to learn more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HchyqPO8K0I&feature=youtu.be!!
